TiArA Downloads
There are two ways to install TiArA on your system. It can be installed natively on an Ubuntu linux system with the package manager, or as a virtual appliance using Sun Virtualbox or VMware.
Virtual appliance installation
A virtual appliance is a virtual computer that runs on top of your host operating system with the help of virtualization software (a hypervisor). In order to run a virtual appliance, you must first install a virtual machine hypervisor such as Virtualbox or VMware. TiArA is distributed in OVF format, which is readily imported into Virtualbox (version 3.0 or higher), or VMware ESX Server. To use the TiArA appliance with VMware Server, it must be converted first to VMX format with the VMware OVF tool.

Various virtualization software can be downloaded through the links below:

| Sun Virtualbox | This is the recommended platform, as TiArA was developend upon it and configured to use its file sharing features. It will import the OVF file directly. |
| VMware ESXi Server | This requires a separate machine dedicated to running virual machines. It will import the OVF file directly, but it is up to the user to configure file sharing. |
| VMware Server | This will run on a local machine, but will require the OVF Tool to convert the image to VMX format. File sharing also must be configured separately. |
Ubuntu package installation
To install TiArA on your Ubuntu machine, please add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
deb http://tiara.liai.org hardy contrib
Next, open up the terminal and type the following:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install tiara
TiArA will be downloaded from the server and configured on your machine.
If you prefer to download the package and install it directly, it can be downloaded below. However, it is preferred to add the tiara repository to your sources.list file, as you will receive automatic periodic updates.
